Establishing Successful Partnerships with Subject Matter Experts

When developing an online course, instructional designers and subject matter experts (SMEs) need to be on the same page. Knowing how to build rapport, capture knowledge, set achievable goals, and establish an overall roadmap are all valuable and necessary strategies. Discover the SMEcrets of success for working productively with SMEs in this four-week course!

When partnering with a subject matter expert (SME) there is an aspect of trust and mutual respect required in the relationship, especially as you are making decisions around learning design that impact the learner's experience. From the beginning of the collaboration, it is critical to establish roles and expectations and equally important to have clear communication and a shared plan of action. In this four-week course, you can count on us to show you how to become a trusted partner in the design of learning experiences. We have the soft skills and tools you need to ensure your SMEs are hitting the ground running and develop high-quality courses confidently.

You will have the opportunity to examine your current collaboration skills and assess how they relate to instructional design. Through this course, we are confident that you will learn practical strategies that you can apply when developing a partnership with your next subject matter expert!

If you decide to enroll in four courses of our LX Live series, we’ll reduce the cost of the LX Pathways portfolio experience from $750 to $375 so you can build and enhance your online presence immediately.

Quality course design depends on input from a subject matter expert (SME) early and often. Obtaining this professional development badge from one of our iDesign Learning Experience (LX) Design experts will show employers that you are prepared to design in today’s increasingly complex learning environment.
